General Arrangment Drawings

An overview of spatial composition, routines, detail and occupation

The façade acts as a barricade allowing privacy and security of the car park, whilst creating an atmosphere for events and interactions via resting, observation and circulation.

The open plan venue area is arranged so that attendees have a range of environmental choices. The cardinal directions are divided so that performance, vista, lounged dining and social dining are prioritised to the N-E-S-W respectively.

A regimented and utilitarian attitude for the main frontage is designed in respect to environmental factors pertaining to view, precipitation, solar geometry, privacy, and connectedness.

The restaurant and stage service areas are aligned with the two axes generated by the Essoldo and canal’s orientations. Zoning is according to buffer zones and routine behaviours, minimising noise disturbances and accommodating the stages or delivery, preparation, and service.

This space is utilised and defined into plots of vegetation including potatoes, onions, lettuce and most other essential foods to be incorporated into home grown dishes, enabling greater self-reliance for the restaurant.

The buildings spaces are segmented according to a modular system of structure, being punctured for programmatic requirements and ingress of light. The corridor created between the residential balconies and the leftmost dining area addresses the issue of overlooking.

The stage takes priority in the internal space from which thermal, audio, ventilative, electrical and volumetric systems and qualities materialise from.
